Offering both online and face-to-face compassion-centered therapy sessions that meet you where you are and guide you toward lasting resilience.
Reclaim, Rebuild, Rise
Hi, I'm Aimee Jay, a person-centred therapist based in Manchester. I offer both in-person and online therapy, giving you the flexibility to choose the format that feels right for you.
My practice is rooted in the person-centred approach, where the therapeutic relationship is at the heart of the work. At the same time, I draw thoughtfully from other therapeutic models when it feels appropriate and beneficial to your individual needs. This might include elements of CBT, Gestalt Therapy, or Psychodynamic Therapy, allowing us to tailor our work together in a way that best supports you.
I believe therapy should offer a calm, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where you feel safe to explore whatever life has brought your way. Whether you're navigating a difficult period, trying to make sense of your emotions, or seeking a deeper understanding of yourself, you'll be met with warmth, curiosity, and acceptance.
Together, we'll explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences to deepen your self-awareness and make sense of both your past and present. My hope is that this process helps you reconnect with yourself, discover new perspectives, and move forward in a way that feels more authentic, fulfilling, and meaningful.
I have experience supporting people with a wide range of presenting concerns, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, grief and bereavement, trauma, relationship difficulties, and many of life's other challenges.
At the heart of my work is a genuine belief in each person's capacity for growth. Therapy is an opportunity to look inward with honesty and compassion, and I aim to build a trusting, authentic relationship where you feel supported to explore, heal, and grow at your own pace.
To my previous clients, thank you for trusting in me. It has been an honour to work with you, and see you evolve.
“Thank you so much for helping me navigate tough times. The work you do is really appreciated.”
~ L
“Aimee helped me to look inward, and whilst it wasn’t easy, I feel happier and healthier and far more present with my children now. Aimee challenges you when necessary, but you always feel safe, heard and respected. I really feel like the environment she created helped me to flourish. Thank you.”
~ A
“Aimee is excellent. Very intuitive and very empathetic. She is there with you, every step of the way”
~ K
My own experience of therapy has given me an appreciation of how vulnerable, challenging, and valuable the process can be.
If we have the opportunity to work together, the only thing I ask is that you come with a willingness to engage in the therapeutic process and allow our therapeutic relationship to develop at its own pace. Therapy isn't always easy. There will be moments that feel challenging, emotionally demanding, and thought-provoking, and at times you may feel uncomfortable or uncertain.
I know from personal experience that change and letting go can feel unsettling. My invitation is to approach the process with openness and curiosity, even when it feels difficult. Together, we can explore your experiences, gently question long-held beliefs, and make sense of the parts of yourself that may have felt disconnected. My hope is that, through this work, you can build a deeper understanding of yourself and move towards a way of being that feels more authentic, grounded, and whole.
A note, from me to you
Your Questions, Answered
What is Person-Centered Therapy?
Person-centred therapy, also known as client-centred or Rogerian therapy, is a humanistic approach developed by psychologist Carl Rogers in the 1940s. At its heart is the belief that you are the expert on your own life. Rather than offering advice or telling you what to do, my role is to provide a safe, accepting, and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at your own pace.
This approach is built on the understanding that, when we feel truly heard and understood, we naturally move towards growth, healing, and greater self-awareness. Therapy is a collaborative process, and together we create the conditions for you to reconnect with your own inner resources and discover a way forward that feels authentic and meaningful to you.
What does a typical session look like?
Sessions are 50 minutes long and are priced at £55 per session. You can choose to meet with me either online via a secure video platform or in person for face-to-face sessions, depending on your preference.
Whichever option you choose, you'll be offered the same warm, confidential, and supportive space to explore whatever feels important to you.
Can I cancel?
We'll go through the practical details together during our first session, including payment, cancellations, confidentiality, and our working agreement. This gives you the opportunity to ask any questions, so you feel clear, informed, and comfortable before we begin our work together.
What issues can you help with?
Everyone's reasons for seeking therapy are unique, and you don't need to have everything figured out before reaching out. I work with people experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges, including:
anxiety and depression
low self-esteem and self-worth
grief and bereavement
trauma
family issues
relationship issues
loss of identity or direction
anger
personal growth and self-discovery
If what you're struggling with isn't listed here, please don't let that put you off. Therapy isn't about fitting into a category - it's about having a space where you can explore whatever is important to you.
Can you tell me what to do?
I know what you might be thinking: “Why would I come to therapy if my therapist isn’t going to tell me what to do?”
It’s a common assumption, especially if you’ve never experienced therapy before, that a therapist’s role is to provide answers or fix problems for you. In reality, therapy is a collaborative process. My role is not to tell you who to be or what choices to make, but to support and guide you as you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and discover your own path forward.
If I simply gave you instructions or solutions, you would miss the opportunity for meaningful growth, those moments of insight, and the process of discovering your own strengths and abilities.
The most powerful changes often come from within and there is something truly valuable about creating the space for those “aha” moments to emerge.
Real life. Real emotions. Real support.
Real life. Real emotions. Real support.
Let's Work Together
If you'd like to get in touch, I offer a free 15-minute consultation where we can have an informal conversation and see how it feels to connect. It's an opportunity for you to ask any questions, get a sense of how I work, and explore whether I'm the right therapist for you.
Choosing a therapist is an important decision, and it's essential that you feel comfortable, safe, and able to imagine opening up in the space we create together. Equally, it's important that the therapeutic relationship feels like a good fit for both of us.
There's absolutely no pressure or obligation to continue after our conversation. Sometimes the connection is there, and sometimes it isn't—and that's completely okay. The consultation is simply a chance for us to meet, talk, and help you decide whether working together feels like the right next step for you.
